Controller

Hoppel Wellness Burns (sole proprietorship), Switzerland, postal address see legal notice, info@hoppel.store. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) applies.

What Hoppel stores

What you tell Hoppel, which mood you choose and how you type is analysed only in your browser. This information is not sent to us or to third parties. So that Hoppel remembers what helps you, your feedback is saved in your browser’s local storage. You can remove it at any time with “Reset what Hoppel learned” or by clearing your browser data.

Cookies

Hoppel does not set cookies – not for statistics, not for advertising. Hoppel does not embed third-party trackers and shows no ads, which is why there is no cookie banner. What Hoppel keeps in your browser’s local storage (see below) only serves features you use yourself and doesn’t leave your device unless you have an account.

Exception for payments: only when you start a purchase does Hoppel load Paddle’s checkout or send you to Stripe’s payment page. There, the payment providers may set cookies that are technically necessary for the payment (see the sections on payment).

Free plays and history on your device

Your browser’s local storage also holds how many free plays you have left today and your history (tension and mood when you press “Let Hoppel read”). Optionally it also holds: the name Hoppel should greet you with, the sounds you saved, what helped you last time, your evening ritual settings and your progress in the sleep programme. Without an account this data does not leave your device; with an account it is end-to-end encrypted like your history. “Forget my name” and signing out with deletion remove it.

Account (optional)

An account lets you use Hoppel on several devices. The following applies:

Payment via Stripe

If you buy Hoppel Plus in Switzerland or Liechtenstein, you are redirected to Stripe’s payment page (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland; Stripe, Inc., USA). Stripe processes your email address, payment and billing data as an independent controller or on our behalf. A transfer to the USA is possible; Stripe relies on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. We do not store card details. After the purchase we link your Hoppel account (via the email address given at purchase, which we do not store) to your Stripe customer ID. Our server only asks Stripe whether a subscription is active. More: stripe.com/privacy.

Payment outside Switzerland via Paddle

If you buy Hoppel Plus outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein, you buy from Paddle.com Market Ltd (United Kingdom), which acts as the merchant of record. Paddle processes your email address, country, payment and billing data as an independent controller. Switzerland recognises the United Kingdom as providing adequate data protection. From Paddle we only receive the customer ID and subscription status to unlock Hoppel Plus in your account. More: paddle.com/legal/privacy.

Abuse protection

To prevent abuse (e.g. mass requests for sign-in links), the server briefly stores an irreversible hash of your IP address or account ID, for at most 24 hours.

Visitor statistics

To see whether Hoppel is found and used, we count page views on hoppel.ch and hoppel.store ourselves, without cookies and without third parties. Only daily counts are stored: the page viewed, the referring site (domain name only), device type (phone, tablet, computer), browser language and how often features such as “Breathe”, “Let Hoppel read” or “How much do others sleep?” were used – never their content and never your answers (for example the sleep duration you chose). To count visits per day, the server creates an irreversible code from the IP address and browser identifier that changes every day. The IP address itself is not stored, and the codes are deleted at the end of the day; only the totals remain. For comparison tests (A/B tests) your browser locally remembers which version of the homepage you see; this is sent with the count but not linked to any person. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, we do not count you. The data is stored on the server in Switzerland and is not passed on.

Hosting and server logs

The website is hosted by Swizzonic AG (Switzerland). When you visit, the server stores technically necessary data (IP address, time, page requested) for a limited period in line with the host’s rules.

Fonts

The fonts (Lora and Source Sans 3) are hosted on our own server. No data is sent to Google or other third parties for them.

Email

If you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply and, if you wish, to tell you about Hoppel Plus. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Your rights

You can delete your account yourself in the app at any time. You can also request access to, correction or deletion of your data by writing to info@hoppel.store.
